STEP UP TO THE MIC CONTEST
 
Do you have what it takes to be a star?
Oldies 92.5 KVPI is sponsoring a singing competition to spotlight talented vocalists in our area.
Contest Rules
Those eligible to enter must be at least 12 years old (with the signed permission of a parent/guardian); or 18 years or older with a signed Waiver.
Contestants must bring a completed entry form, along with a photo of themselves to the KVPI studio.  Anyone under the age of 18 MUST have a parent/guardian with them at the time the entry form and photo are submitted.  All contestants must sign a waiver upon entry.
Upon turning in your entry form, you will be given a time slot where you will perform in front of a panel of judges at the first round of competition.
Contestants are responsible for bringing his/her, own music.  Instruments may be used.
Contestants must perform a song from the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s in the genres of rock & roll, soft rock, pop, disco or alternative.  No country please. No bands.
No profanity.
The first round of competition will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Nick’s on Main.  Competitors will perform in front of the audience and a panel of judges.
 
The results from the judges are final.  Five contestants from the 12-20 category and five contestants from the 21 and older category will be chosen.  Those performances will then be featured on KVPI for the listeners to call in their votes to choose The Grand Prize winners.   
The top two Grand Prize winners will then perform live on the air over Oldies 92.5 KVPI.
The winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 during the afternoon show with J.C. and Stephanie.
1st Place in the 21 and older category
Wins the opportunity to perform at 2014 Boggy Bayou Festival and
A Family Fun Pack to Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX 
 
 
1st place winner in the 12 - 21 category
Wins the opportunity to perform at the 2014 Boggy Bayou Festival and a 
Family Fun Pack to Blue Bayou in Baton Rouge
 
2nd and 3rd Place winners
Will receive various gift certificates

The Louisiana Swamp Pop Museum operated by the City of Ville Platte is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos, records, Wall of Fame and hear the music. Admission charge is $3 adults, $2 seniors and $1 for children under 12. The museum is located on Northwest Railroad Avenue.
