KVPI Local Sports Updates


KVPI Sports will carry all four games of the Dixie Youth Sub District tournament in Oberlin beginning Friday night at 7:30, Saturday at 1:00pm and again at 5:00pm and Sunday at 3:0pm . You can hear all the games on KVPI FM or if there is a conflict with LSU, they will be on KVPI 1050 AM. The team includes Connor Dupre, Benjamin Romero, Hayden Droddy, Nicholas Fontenot, Owen Smith, Gabe Courville, Landon Lafleur, Landry Lafleur, Colton Manuel, Evan Deshotels, Wade Pitre and Kagen Lafleur. The coaches are Eric Fontenot, Chris Courville, Josh Deshotels and John Pitre. KVPI Sports Announcer Thomas Scully will be calling the games. Good luck to our Super Tens!!

Dixie Youth World Series Final Score

 

   The Ville Plate Dixie Youth 12 Year All Stars fought hard but ultimately lost against South Carolina in the Dixie Youth World Series in Lexington, South Carolina. The final score was 12-7. South Carolina advances in the elimination bracket while our Ville Platte, Louisiana All Stars come home. The game along with all the games in the World Series was carried on KVPI-FM, Classic Hits 92.5. The only home town radio station sending game coverage back home. We are proud of all stars and their parents and the support of our community. We want to thank our many sponsors for making our game coverage possible. Last night: The Ville Platte 8 under All Star girls defeated North Vermillion 14-6.

 

This morning, the Ville Platte 8 under All Stars beat Moss Bluff 11-10. They played a second game just before 1:00 today and our girls beat Rayne in extra innings 20-18.

The Ville Platte 8 u All Star girls defeated  Moss Bluff tonight by a score of 13-0 in Youngsville at the 2014 Dixie Youth Pony Nationals tournament. The team has now completed pool play with an unbeaten record. Their first bracket game is scheduled for Friday night at 6:20pm over KVPI FM 92.5 with Sports Announcer Thomas Scully.

National Pony League Tournament Update

July 30, 2014

 

     The Ville Platte 8 under Girls All Stars won both their pool play games today in the first day of the National Pony League Tournament going on in Youngsville.

     In the first pool play game, the Ville Platte all stars defeated Crowley 17-4.

     In the second game, the Ville Platte Girls in a game over KVPI FM 92.5 beat McAllen, Texas  by a score of 15-2 with Sports Announcer Thomas Scully.

      Their next game in pool play will be Friday at 5:30pm as they will face Moss Bluff and you can hear that game over KVPI 1050 AM.

       Bracket play games begin Friday and you will be able to hear all of the games on KVPI 1050 AM.

State Dixie Youth Tournament Update

 

The Ville Platte Super Tens tonight lost to Shreveport American by a score of  10-6 in the third game of the State Dixie Youth Tournament played in Alexandria. Shreveport advances to the Dixie Youth World Series Tournament. KVPI was there covering all of the games for the Super Tens for fans and family back home. Both Ville Platte teams won their first games in the state Dixie Youth tournament in Alexandria tonight.

 

The Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Majors defeated West Ouachita by a score of 8-1. They will next play Saturday at 10:30 over KVPI-FM.

 

The Ville Platte Super Ten’s All Stars beat Shreveport American 21-5. They will next play at 10:00am over KVPI 1050AM on Saturday.

 

Both teams are only one victory away from punching a ticket to the Dixie Youth World Series.

BOTH VILLE PLATTE TEAMS WIN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

      The Ville Platte Super Ten’s and Dixie Majors All Star teams won their respective championships in the Dixie Youth South Regional Tournament in Metairie.

      The Ville Platte 12 Year Old Dixie Majors defeated St. Mary  8-5 in the finals today (Wednesday) to go unbeaten through the tournament. They advance to represent the South Region in the State 2 out of 3 Tournament beginning Friday in Alexandria.

     The Ville Platte 10 Year Old Super 10 Year Old All Stars beat St. Mary 13-1  today (Wednesday). They also advance to play this weekend in State 2 out of 3 Tournament in Alexandria.

  In the Dixie Youth South Regional being played in Metairie, the Ville Platte 12 Year Old Dixie Majors defeated Minden tonight (Tuesday) by a score of 12-2 in a game over KVPI FM. The Ville Platte All Stars advance to play in the championship game Wednesday morning at 10:00am on KVPI FM against St. Mary Central. Should Ville Platte lose, they will play again 30 minutes later against the same team.

  The Ville Platte Super Tens All Stars beat Jena tonight (Tuesday) by a score of 14-4 in a game played on KVPI AM. Our Super Tens will play at 10:00am Wednesday against West Monroe. Should Ville Platte win that game, they would play a second game against St. Mary who got a bye. Those games can be heard on KVPI 1050AM.

    The winners in each tournament advance to play in the state two out of three tournament in Alexandria this weekend.

The 12 year old Dixie Majors defeated Gonzales 16-11 and they play again at 6:00pm tonight on KVPI-FM with Sports Announcer Chris Bordelon. The Ville Platte Super Ten All Stars defeated Jena 19-4 and they play again tonight at 6;00pm on KVPI 1050AM with Sports Announcer Tracey Jagneaux.

Dixie Youth Baseball Update from the Regional Tournament in Metairie

 

   The games involving our Ville Platte Super Tens and Dixie Majors 12 year old all stars had to be cancelled today (Sunday) due to rain falling at the regional tournament in Metairie.  The games were scrubbed on the first day of the tourney on Friday also due to rain. Both teams won their first games on Saturday.  We are hearing that teams will be playing two games to catch up on Monday. The Ville Platte games will be played at 10:00am with the 12’s on KVPI FM and the 10’s scheduled to be played on KVPI AM.

The Ville Platte Super Ten’s All Stars kicked off their first appearance in the South Regional Dixie Youth Tournament in Metairie with a victory over Gonzales. In a game delayed one day because of rain, the Ville Platte Super Ten’s defeated Gonzales 13-4 in a game aired on Classic Hits 92.5. Their next game will be take place sometime on Sunday.     Congratulations to the Mamou 8 Year Old Pitching Machine All Stars for winning at the State Dixie Youth Tournament in Pineville this weekend. The Mamou All Stars defeated Ouachita 16-1 Sunday morning in their 7th and final game of the tournament. As a result of their win, they advance to compete in the Pitching Machine World Series in Longview, Texas beginning July 25. KVPI Sports was there covering all the games with Sports Announcers Elliot West and Tony Marks bringing the games to family and friends on KVPI AM and FM.

GIRLS SOFTBALL UPDATE

   The Ville Platte 8 and under girls all stars in the Pony Regional tournament in Youngsville defeated Mamou girls this morning 15-3. They advance to play in the championship series against Rayne in the best two out of three.

The Ville Platte Dixie Majors 12 year old team is hosting a District Tournament at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex.  In their first game today , Ville Platte defeated Sulpher Continental by a score of 12-0.

In the Dixie Youth District Tournament going on in Moss Bluff , the Ville Platte Super Ten’s All Stars defeated Moss Bluff National14-4 in a game broadcast over KVPI FM. The Super Ten’s will next play Sunday at 5:00pm in their third game of the tournament Sunday at 5:00pm against Oberlin. You can hear that game over KVPI 1050 AM with Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux.

 

In girls softball action in the regional softball tournament in Youngsville today, the Ville Platte 8 and under girls beat Iota 15-4 and then beat Opelousas 18-8. They will play again on Sunday. If you know of any other scores from local and area teams email them to kvpiamfm@gmail.com

Mamou Girls All Stars in Regional Tournament

 

  The Mamou  10 and under girls beat Moss Bluff 11-3 and Opelousas 6-5 in pool play today in a regional tournament in Youngsville.

  The Mamou 8 and under girls beat Moss Bluff 11-9. Congratulations to the Mamou girls on their victories.

Lots of local baseball and softball action going on in our area. The Ville Platte Dixie Majors 12 year old all stars are hosting a District Tournament in Ville Platte at the City Recreational Facility beginning Saturday. We will be posting final scores as soon as we receive them. We’re also covering  the Ville Platte Ten Year old all- stars in their games this weekend in Moss Bluff.

 

The Ville Platte 8 and under  and 10 and under girls all stars are participating in the regional tournament in Youngsville.

 

 The 8 under girls coached by Lance Vidrine will begin pool play Friday with two games scheduled 10:30am against Eunice and at 4:45pm against Crowley.

 

The 10 and under girls coached by Jason Fontenot will begin pool play Friday at 10:30am against Iowa and at 1:00pm vs. Kaplan.

 

Good luck to all our area teams. We hope to have scores and keep you informed on how our teams are doing.

The Ville Platte Super Ten’s All Stars defeated Westlake All Stars in the first game of the District Tournament in Moss Bluff heard over KVPI-FM. The final score was 18-2. The Ville Platte All Stars will advance and next play Saturday at 3:00pm in the tournament and that game can be heard on 92.5 KVPI FM and on the web at oldies925.com.

KVPI Sports plan to cover the Ville Platte Super Tens in the District Tournament in Moss Bluff beginning Thursday. Our first game is set for Thursday at 5:30 on KVPI FM. Should they win, they advance to play Saturday at 5:00pm and if they lose, they will play Saturday at 1:00pm all on KVPI FM. Our sports announcer will be Tracy Jagneaux.

KVPI Sports will be covering the Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Majors All Stars in the Sub District tournament this weekend in Pine Prairie. First game is due to begin today at 4:00pm on KVPI FM. Game two is set for Sunday at 3:00pm on KVPI AM and the final game is scheduled for Monday at 5:30pm. All of the games were pushed back one day due to the rains on Friday.

Ville Platte (8's) take out Oberlin with help from Wade Pitre, 3-0.

 

Wade Pitre went 2-2, helping Ville Platte to a 3-0 victory over Oberlin on Monday at Mamou.

He singled in the first and third innings.  Ville Platte 's defense kept Oberlin off the scoreboard for all five innings on four hits.  Ville Platte went up for good in the first, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Wade.  Ville Platte is now 4-0 in the tournament and will face Mamou tonight at 8:00.  The game will be broadcast live on Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI.

VILLE PLATTE 8'S COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT OAKDALE 8-7 IN THRILLER:  The Ville Platte All-Stars scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Oakdale 8-7 in Mamou Sunday afternoon.  Ville Platte led the 5-3 going into the top of the sixth inning only to see Oakdale score four runs to take a 7-5 lead.  But, the Ville Platte youngsters pulled it out with three runs of their own in the bottom half to improve to 3-0 in the tournemant while dropping Oakdale to 2-1.  Ville Platte will play Oberlin Monday night at 6:15 and the game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI.

Ville Platte (8's) jumps on Pine Prairie (8's) early and coasts to 11-0 win

Ville Platte refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Pine Prairie , recording an 11-0 victory on Saturday at Mamou.

The game was decided quickly as Ville Platte exerted its will early with 11 runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Bastian Veillon during the first inning and an RBI single byWilliam Jorden, a two-run error, an error, and a two-run single by Parker Feuchtin the second inning supplied the early offense for Ville Platte.  Parker racked up two RBIs on two hits for Ville Platte.

 

Ville Platte 's defense kept Pine Prairie off the scoreboard for all four innings.

Landon Leblanc leads Ville Platte (8's) to 4-0 victory

Landon Leblanc carried Ville Platte to a 4-0 victory over Moss Bluff American (eight's) on Saturday at Mamou with a strong game at the plate.

Landon had two extra-base hits for Ville Platte . He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Ville Platte 's defense kept Moss Bluff American off the scoreboard for all six innings allowing no runs on four hits.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as Ville Platte scored two runs on a two-run double by Wade Pitre.

Ville Platte increased its lead with two runs in the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Payton Soileau singled, plating Landon. That was followed up by Wade's single, scoring Payton.

Fairview drops 12-1 game to Florien

Haley Christine Perkins went 2-2 at the plate, but Fairview fell 12-1 to Florien at Frasch Park on Saturday.

Abbey McMillian recorded the win for Florien. She allowed one run over five innings. Abbey struck out five, walked three and gave up five hits.

Adrianna PhillipsKaitlin DavisBailey McCleary and Ryleigh Rutherfordhelped lead Florien. They combined for nine hits and 10 RBIs.

Sarah Gordon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed 12 runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

Florien didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on an RBI single by Bailey.

Florien increased its lead with five runs in the fourth. Bailey kicked things off with a single, scoring Caitlyn Corley. That was followed up by Kaitlin's triple, scoring Bailey and Gracie Sylvia.

Fairview scored its only run of the game when Adelle Smith was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning.
